Act Like You Matter: August
You've been changing. It's time to catch up with yourself.
Check it out! We are four months in to the Act Like You Matter series. If you’ve been here since May and have been intentional about participating in this series, give yourself a pat on the back. That’s four months of showing up for yourself imperfectly, inconsistently, in the middle of real life, and you’re still here. GO YOU. And also…thank you for being here. It helps me continue to make this kind of content.
And if you’re just finding this series, welcome. Here’s what you need to know.
Act Like You Matter is a monthly series I created because it’s what I needed for myself. People always yap and lecture about how “self care” is important but I never knew what that really meant. Bubble baths and candles just aren’t going to cut it for my active ADHD brain. So the goal of this series is to figure out what self care means TO YOU. Not to me, not to Susan next door, but to YOU. And how do we do that? By building small intentional habits meant to help you come back to yourself in the middle of whatever season you’re in. Each month has a theme. Each month has four weeks of habits with prompts and reflection built in. The great thing about this series is that you don’t have to start at the beginning. Look through the month themes and pick whatever calls to you.
This series isn’t linear (but it can be). If you’re in a place where you need Month 2 more than Month 1, start there. If Month 3 is calling you, go. The whole point is that you find what you actually need right now instead of a finding it through a strict linear process. Every month lives on its own and everything carries forward regardless of where you jump in.
Here’s where we’ve been so far, in case you want to go back:
Month 1: Come Back to Yourself : closing the day on purpose, claiming your time, naming what you want, writing yourself a letter from where you are.
Month 2: Show Up for Yourself : anchoring your day, keeping your word to yourself, guarding your time, taking stock of how far you’ve come.
Month 3: Trust Yourself : owning your timeline, looking at your progress without comparing it, asking for what you need, standing behind your decisions.
And now we’re here. Month 4: Know Yourself.
After months of coming back, showing up, and trusting yourself, this month is about something that sounds simple but probably isn’t (at least not for me): knowing who you are right now. Like it or not, you will change (or have changed) on this journey. Mentally, emotionally, and physically- it can all shift. So I want this month to focus on who you are today, in this body, in this season, with everything that’s changed and everything that’s still changing.
If you’ve been doing the work of transforming and you’ve started to feel a little unfamiliar to yourself, this month is for you.
Subscribe to keep reading. August is a good month to start.
